SCOUTS

The Township of Ocean Historical Museum encourages local youth to participate in the community and assists young people through projects and programs that help both them and the community.

FLAG CEREMONIES
Since 2012, the Township of Ocean Historical Museum has been conducting flag ceremonies, honoring our nations servicemen and women, both living and deceased, for their service in time of need.  Local Boy Scouts from Troop 70 (Oakhurst), Troop 71 (Oakhurst) and Troop 76 (Wayside), have officiated over the raising and lowering of the flags.   Photographs (and some videos) of these ceremonies can be found here:

BRINLEY GRIST MILL SITE

2015 - Eagle Scout Ryan Ross - Troop 70, Oakhurst 
Eagle Project - Restore the historic Brinley Mill Site on Monmouth Road, Oakhurst following destruction by Hurricane Sandy.

1974 - Eagle Scout Karl Zimmerer - Troop 70 Oakhurst
Eagle Project - Restore Brinley Grist Mill Site and erect marker sign. (Project sponsored by our predecessor, the Township of Ocean Historical Society)

RYAN PLAY HOUSE

2015 - Eagle Scout Candidate Chris Kasyjanski - Troop 71, Oakhurst 
Eagle Project - Restoring the Ryan Playhouse by replacing large numbers of worn out siding, replacing a large amount of the exterior fencing, and re-glazing, or replacing all of the windows in the structure, as well as repainting the entire playhouse and fence.

2009 - Eagle Scout George DeCastro - Troop 71, Oakhurst 
Eagle Project - Refurbishing of the Ryan Play House, making the move of the house from The Oakhurst School site, and placing it in to park next to the Eden Woolley House, his Eagle Scout project.

1985 - Eagle Scout Louis P. Nappen - Troop 71 Oakhurst
Eagle Project - Restore Ryan Play House after it is moved from Wickapecko Drive to the Oakhurst School property.

Gold Scout Project - Clean the tower area and inside of the tower, as well as plantings for the Stucile Farms Water Tower being restored by the Museum.
